Christmas 2012 at The Curve Mall

In the month of December Ikea is running some one-day special Christmas offer of 2 items per day everyday till December 24. We were attracted or rather distracted by one of the items on offer that day but felt it more of a want than a need.

Physically checking  out the item might help but Ikea is quite a distance from our place. If the item turned out to be something not what we really want,  it would be a wasted day out.  Then I remembered the Christmas decoration at The Curve so I said to my wife at least we can shoot some photos to make it worth the while.

We arrived at Ikea around lunch time and had lunch at the Oriental Court area at The Curve Mall. After that we moved on to the Curve's Centre Court area to check out their Christmas decorations as our first stop.

A Colourful Whimsie Forest Christmas Theme at The Curve Shopping Mall 2012
Giant toadstools, a variety colourful flowers, Christmas trees and Tree house make the the imaginary Whimsie Forest theme captivating      --      Camera: Olympus Pen E-PL2, Lens: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 14-42 mm f/3.5-5.6 II standard zoom lens, setting lens at 14mm f/4.5 1/60s and ISO 1000.

The Curve's theme for the 2012 Christmas was called The Whimsie Forest with a sprinkle of fairy dust. A forest wonderland theme decorated with colourful flowers, Christmas trees, tree house and towering toadstools. With a charmingly decorated Centre Court the Whimsie Forest fairies were ready for their magical Christmas party. This Whimsie Forest Christmas theme at The Curve was a departure from the typical snowy White Christmas but this did not feel strange for people from a country that never had snow.

The Whimsie Forest theme had a well planned story line with stage play and musical performance every weekend to entertain the kids and shoppers. The story was about Georgie the Guardian Fairy who attempted to plan the Fairy Christmas Party in the Whimsie Forest. Every story must have a hero and a villain otherwise there is no story Therefore there was this mischievous Candy Cane Fairy trying to spoil the fun and so the story goes....

The Curve really had a Fairy Christmas this season other than the fairy tale musical just mentioned. There were also fairy make over, Arty Fairy workshop, Fairies Playtime walkabout and kids Fashion show. Looks like this Christmas the Curve's decorations were designed for the kids in mind.

Moving around the Centre Court area I noticed many happy smiling young faces around me while Elaine was busy taking pictures of the Christmas decorations. The one reason I was not taking photographs was because the fool in me had brought along a E-P1 camera with an empty battery while a fully charged BLS-1 was sitting pretty on my desk at home with nowhere to go.

At the end of the day we went home without the offer item from Ikea instead we bought something else from them.  Nonetheless, we had a rewarding trip with enough photographs of the Whimsie Forest to features on this blog posting.
